About me
In high school, physiotherapy was often suggested as a career path because I was strong in STEM and enjoyed sport. But I wanted variety and problem solving, so I chose to study a degree in Construction Management instead. That decision shaped a career I’m incredibly proud of.
Construction has given me the variety I wanted with roles including contracts administration, tendering, FIFO site engineer, cost control, insurance manager, office manager, subcontract and commercial management. I’ve worked on projects ranging from $1 million to over $1 billion, each one unique and interesting. Alongside all of this, I’ve raised two amazing children, proving to myself that a career and parenthood can absolutely coexist.

- Practical
The role of Commercial Manager is incredibly diverse, with no two days ever the same, which keeps things interesting. At its core, it's about looking after the commercial side of a project across contracts, budgets, payments, insurance and managing changes as they arise. Despite the title, it's not just about spreadsheets and legal clauses. A big part of the role is building and managing stakeholder relationships. This includes supporting project managers to understand the requirements of the contract, working with subcontractors to find practical solutions to issues as they come up and having open conversations with clients about the impacts of changes on the project. The role extends beyond the office, with regular site interaction being a key part of achieving successful outcomes.
